What age can my child start tennis?

Children can begin their tennis journey from around three years old in our Blue Stage program. Each stage is designed to suit different ages and ability levels.

Does my child need to start in the Blue Stage?

Not necessarily. Every child develops at their own pace, and we are happy to help recommend the most suitable stage based on age and experience.

What should my child bring to lessons?

A water bottle, hat, sunscreen, and comfortable sports clothing and runners. If your child does not have a racquet, we can provide one during lessons.

How long are the lessons?

Junior coaching sessions typically run between 30 and 60 minutes, depending on the stage and group.

What if it rains or my child misses a session?

If lessons are cancelled due to weather, we'll notify families via email or SMS and arrange a make-up session where possible. If your child is ill or has an unexpected absence, let us know in advance, and we'll do our best to offer a make-up session if space allows.

Are classes held during school holidays?

Our junior coaching runs during school terms only. However, we do offer fun holiday programs over the school holidays.

How do I enrol my child?

How much is it for lessons?

Lessons start from $20 per week, with weekly direct debit option or upfront term payment.

My child is 8 years old. What stage should I choose?

Most 8-year-olds will be suited to Orange Stage. If your child is on the older end of a stage, we generally recommend enrolling them in the stage above. Our coaches can also assess your child and confirm the best option.

Do you have a Membership?

Yes. All junior players are required to hold a compulsory Bronze Membership, which is $60 per season. This covers player registration, insurance, and administration, and also provides member benefits including priority registration and member pricing for holiday programs, sibling and multi-lesson discounts, and additional member savings where applicable.

Blue Stage
3 - 5 years

You can start your child’s tennis journey in Townsville from as young as three years old!

Our Blue Stage Hotshots program is a fun, play-based introduction to tennis for young children. Using smaller racquets, softer balls, and plenty of games, children develop balance, coordination, and confidence in a safe and supportive environment. It’s the perfect way to begin their tennis adventure while learning essential skills through movement and play.

5 - 8 years

Your child can discover tennis in Townsville through fun lessons that build confidence!

Our Red Stage Hotshots program builds on the basics, helping children rally, improve coordination, and learn simple game strategies using red balls and larger racquets. Played on a smaller court with a lower net, Red Stage offers a fun, supportive way for children to gain confidence and continue their tennis development in a relaxed, modified environment.

Our Orange Stage Hotshots program is designed for children aged 8–10, focusing on developing technique, rallying, and match play using orange balls on a three-quarter court. Our Green Stage Hotshots program is for children aged 10–12 and bridges the gap between modified and standard tennis. Using softer green balls, players develop control, consistency, and tactical awareness while improving advanced skills. This stage helps children refine their technique and gain confidence as they prepare for yellow ball competition.

Our Yellow Stage program is designed for players aged 13–17, focusing on advanced skills, match strategies, and fitness development. Using standard yellow balls on a full-size court, players continue to build confidence and enjoy tennis in a social and supportive setting. This stage encourages teamwork, friendship, and a lifelong love of the game.
